REVIEW: Kangeaux Walkabout

Kangeaux Walkabout
The Kangeaux Walkabout is one of those pieces of gear that you don’t know you need until you use it. It’s a multi-tasker; the Walkabout is a carrier that you can use camping, hiking, kayaking, or on the go in your day to day life.

When I first got the Kangeaux Walkabout and opened it, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Then I grabbed a bunch of stuff and started experimenting. I was amazed at how much I could attach to my Walkabout! Right away I could see I would love it for camping and hiking. I was even wishing I would have had one of these when my kids were small. It would have made hiking with a toddler so much easier if I could have attached a Walkabout to our hiking backpack with a sippy cup, pacifier, and toy.

When I hike I love to take pictures, so I was especially pleased with the Velcro strap on the Walkabout. I was doubtful that it could securely hold on to my camera, but the rubber back made the grip nice and tight. I loved the idea that in the winter I won’t have to take off my gloves and fumble through my pack to take a picture! The Walkabout would also be a great hands free way to hold on to my water bottle when I need my hands for climbing.

The carabineer on the Kangeaux Walkabout was also very functional. It was sturdy and easy to use. I used it to hold on to my flashlight, water bottle, and bug spray. Did I mention I am in love? How great will it be to go camping and have all of my essentials attached together rather than searching over and over again through a dark tent?

I got a chance to really put the Walkabout to the test last weekend when we went on a family hike. We hadn’t been in a while, and though it was only a 7 mile hike, my kids’ whining made it feel like 75 miles. Honestly, I don’t want to be a downer, but this trip into the woods was just not fun. I was exhausted by the time we got back to the car.

After a long hike I usually have a panicked moment where I can’t find my car keys. Usually I unpack everything from my bag, and find them at the bottom after five minutes of worst case scenarios traveling through my mind. (This kind of thing never happens when I have cell service or easy access to AAA.) This time I was expecting the same, but then remembered that I had attached my cell phone, keys and wallet to the Walkabout which was conveniently clipped to the inside of my pack. A miracle!

Kangeaux Walkabout

The Kangeaux would make a great stocking stuffer for the active person in your life. It’s a useful gift, they probably don’t have one already, and the packaging is super cute.

Summary:

✅ Very versatile – can be used for a variety of activities
✅ Easy to attach to many objects
✅ Would make a great gift
✅ Made in the USA!

Note: Kangeaux provided me with a product to test in exchange for an honest review.
