Sky Meadows is a nice get away from DC – it’s only about a 45 minute drive, is located right off the highway, and is close to some peach picking farms. It’s everything you need right?
Our favorite Sky Meadows trail is the Shearman’s Mill trail, across Rt. 17 from the main park. Shearman’s Mill is only about 1.04 miles long, so it’s attainable for the kids, but the uphill sections let Mom and Dad feel like they’re actually hiking. Shearman’s Mill trail goes past farm land, so in addition to deer and bunnies, there are usually several cow sightings.
Sky Meadows has a fee of $5 for day use. There are bathrooms, and a gift shop that sells bottles of water. The restored farm buildings are interesting to poke around.
